Pupin (Moon)

Named after Michael Idvorsky Pupin - American physicist and inventor of Serbian origin (1858-1935).

Pupin is a tiny lunar impact crater located in the eastern part of the Mare Imbrium. The mare near Pupin is otherwise devoid of significant impact craters, and is nearly featureless except for a faint dusting of ray material. Despite its apparent diminutive size, Pupin is actually larger than the famous Barringer crater in Flagstaff, Arizona. (wikipedia entry)

A crater is a circular depression likely created by an impact event. On the Moon they are named after deceased scientists, polar explorers, astronauts or cosmonauts.
