Anaxandra (Venus)

Named after Anaxandra - Greek artist (fl. c. 228 B.C.).

Anaxandra (Greek: Ἀναξάνδρα; fl. 220s BC) was an ancient Greek female artist and painter from Greece. She was the daughter and student of Nealkes, a painter of mythological and genre scenes. She is mentioned by Clement of Alexandria, the 2nd century Christian theologian, in a section of his Stromateis entitled "Women as Well as Men Capable of Perfection". (wikipedia entry)

A crater is a circular depression likely created by an impact event. On Venus they are named after deceased women who have made outstanding or fundamental contributions to their field (if over 20 km). If smaller common female first names are used.
