Argonaut, son of Neptune, helmsman of the Argo after the death of Tiphys.

A crater is a circular depression likely created by an impact event. On Phoebe they are named after people associated with Phoebe, people from the Argonautica by Apollonius Rhodius and Valerius Flaccus.
