Africana (Vesta)

Named after Cornelia Africana - Roman noblewoman, wife of Tiberus Gracchus Major, mother of Tiberus and Gaius Gracchus (c. 190-100 B.C.).

A crater is a circular depression likely created by an impact event. On Vesta they are named after names historically associated with the Roman goddess Vesta (vestal virgins, people associated with vestal virgins) and famous Roman women.
