Curtis (Moon)

Named after Heber Doust Curtis - American astronomer (1872-1942).

Curtis is a tiny lunar crater that lies in the western Mare Crisium, to the east of the crater Picard. It is a circular, cup-shaped formation that is otherwise undistinguished. (wikipedia entry)

A crater is a circular depression likely created by an impact event. On the Moon they are named after deceased scientists, polar explorers, astronauts or cosmonauts.
