Crookes (Moon)

Named after Sir William Crookes - British physicist, chemist (1832-1919).

Crookes is a lunar impact crater that lies as seen from the Earth. It lies just to the southwest of the giant crater Korolev. To the southwest is McKellar. The rim of this crater has a high albedo compared to most such formations , and it lies at the center of a ray system. (wikipedia entry)

A crater is a circular depression likely created by an impact event. On the Moon they are named after deceased scientists, polar explorers, astronauts or cosmonauts.
